Leave the everyday behind and escape to Sandbanks—a coastal haven where sun-drenched beaches, sparkling seas, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere await. Spend your days basking on golden sands, trying your hand at thrilling water sports, exploring nearby attractions, or dining on fresh local seafood at one of the many laid-back beachfront restaurants. With something to suit everyone, and just 3.5 hours from London, it’s no wonder Sandbanks is a favourite for couples, families, and groups alike.
The iconic Sandbanks Peninsula stretches out at the mouth of Poole Harbour, boasting a 7-mile sweep of soft, golden beach. Here, you’ll find Blue Flag-status waters perfect for safe swimming, beach volleyball and play areas for children, scenic dog-friendly walks, and plenty of space to simply relax under the gentle Dorset sun.
On the sheltered harbour side, calm waters create a playground for sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and boating. The chain ferry from the tip of the peninsula links Sandbanks to Studland, opening up more pristine beaches and the dramatic Jurassic Coast. A short ferry ride also takes you to Brownsea Island, a National Trust gem home to rare wildlife, heathland trails, and peaceful lagoons.
While Sandbanks is a summer hotspot, its mild climate makes it equally appealing in spring and autumn. Whether you’re here for coastal walks, boutique shopping, or award-winning dining, Sandbanks offers a unique blend of natural beauty and leisure year-round. Whatever the season, a visit to this special part of Dorset promises unforgettable memories.
